"Avant-Garde"
Avant-Garde is an International Experimental Theatre and Music Festival by Atelier in December 2012.
This festival represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm.
The basic idea is to invite theatre groups who are endeavouring to explore old/new themes/subjects with radically fresh treatment.
Documentation: "Campus Theatre Traditions"
We have initiated a two year long project "Tradition, Continuity & Change: Study of the Campus Theatre Traditions in the campus of the University of Delhi".
The purpose of this study is to examine the dynamics of this kind of theatre being performed in the campus (here, University of Delhi) and to see what has gone into the construction of these historical/cultural/traditional formations. The theatre tradition emerging out of the campus as an alternative space (cultural region), which, like the transitory nature of a student in the campus, is contested and in continuous flux. This ambivalent-yet-vibrant status of break and continuity of this theatre tradition is remarkable vis-à-vis the mobility of the students with every new academic session. The continuity and discontinuity of the students lead to a new set of refreshing, revitalising and rejuvenating dynamism in the tradition.
