ACT is a meticulously defined movement by Atelier. With a classical five-act format, we intend to penetrate strongly into the cultural fold and endeavour to make a significant dent.
Â
These are the five acts:
Â
ACT I: Atelier Community Theatre is a highly creative theatre space created in the residential colony, Mukherjee Nagar in Delhi with the intent to reach the larger cross section of community, freeing the energy and charisma of theatre from the confines of so-called professionals and prosceniums to amateurs and alternate spaces.
Â
This is functional since April 2011.
Â
ACT II: Workshops, Trainings, Conferences, Seminars and Talks on Theatre and Performing Arts will be the focus of ACT II. The existing cultural spaces and issues pertaining to contemporary theatre practices will be taken into consideration under this head.
Â
ACT III: The purview of ACT III will be the theatre festivals which Atelier does and intends to do in the years to come. ACT Festival (Campus Theatre), BACHPAN (Children’s Theatre Festival), Eureka (Exhibition-cum-performances), Avant Garde (Experimental Theatre and Musical Theatre Festival) and Performing Series (Author/Playwright focused literary festival) are the properties at this point of time.
Â
ACT Festival, BACHPAN and Eureka are functional.
Â
ACT IV: The ACT magazine is one-of-its-kind quarterly magazine on theatre and performing arts. ACT magazine is an offshoot of Atelier’s Capacity building Project for the Creative Youth to make theatre and performing arts approachable and experiential rather than intellectually compartmentalized and elite.Hitherto, we were communicating with people through our productions, and now we look forward to reach out to masses employing the written word, as well. The agenda is unambiguous: channelizing the growing energies in the theatre circuits in Delhi and nearby regions in general and Campus Theatre in the University of Delhi in particular, collating, documenting and archiving the craft.
Â
The first issue will appear in October, 2011.
Â
ACT V: Performing Café is the most ambitious project of Atelier. It is the space oozing creativity, energy and aesthetics without getting the gloss of corporatization. It would stand for excellence in terms of whatever it offers and therefore the SPACE it employs becomes very critical in the success of this extremely gigantic idea.
Â
The first Café will be functional by February, 2013.
