KULJEET SINGH
Creative Director

Kuljeet is an Assistant Professor in the department of English, University of Delhi and he is the Director of Atelier. Besides his teaching profession, he is practicing theatre since his college days and his interest lies in Visual, Performance and Film Studies. His M. Phil dissertation thesis is on the history of theatre on the campus of the University of Delhi. His vast experience of performing includes several theatre productions under the direction of M.K. Raina, Surendra Sharma, Roysten Abel, Avtar Sahni, Anna-Helena McLean and VK Sharma, as well as acting in Shonali Bose’s National Award winning film AMU and Sharad Nigam’s INTERVAL.

He has directed three productions for Atelier Theatre: Self scripted Goodbye Blue Sky, Barrie Keeffe’ SUS and Jean Anouilh’s Antigone. His magnum opus Goodbye Blue Sky was awarded by Sahitya Kala Parishad in 2006 and has been performed in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkatta. He has also directed half a dozen productions for college students and more than 20 one-act plays for different schools in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

He is a faculty in Theatre and Dramatic Arts with schools of repute, and is instrumental in developing and implementing methodologies of teaching and effective incorporation of specific elements of drama in the classroom.

He has conceptualized and designed three Theatre festivals in the past successfully. In his personal capacity as a socially responsible citizen, he dedicates a substantial part of his time to social work specifically for the benefit of street children and rag pickers.

CHANDAN KUMAR

Principal Strategist

Chandan is the Development Strategist with Atelier. His essential focus is to look into new areas of development with regard to theatre and performing arts.

He is a Supply Chain Consultant by profession with cross industry experience in IT and Manufacturing. He is a Mechanical Engineer and holds the distinction of MS in Consultancy management from BITS Pilani. Also to know theatre more closely he have Certificate in Theatre Arts.

Characterised by overwhelming energy and intense passion; his soul finds solace in poetry, theatre, environmental and social activism. He has been trained under the guidance of the celebrated theatre personality Arvind Gaur. His stage performances include - play “Kharasein” by Gulzar at the India Habitat Centre and has been part of many street plays.

He vents his thoughts into classy poetry and has shared platform at national level with poets of international eminence at the India Habitat Centre and the India International Centre. He has been on air on different radio channels on several occasions.

 

NIDHI PRAKASH

NIDHI PRAKASH


Nidhi is a media professional, with her focus being radio. She has worked with a number of leading organisations in the industry (including Radio Mirchi). Her last organisational stint was with MyFM - Dainik Bhaskar; as a national resource scheduling and programming head for the Jaipur radio station.
She is currently a freelance consultant with private educational organisations. She believes in the effective communication aspect of the medium and her association with Atelier is an extension of the same thought. An art lover, she embraces theatre with more enthusiasm.

Dr. RAHUL SAPRA

Dr. Sapra is an Associate Professor of Shakespearean drama and films at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. He completed M.A. and M. Phil in English at the University of Delhi, where he also taught as a tenured faculty for a few years. He completed his PhD at Queen’s University in 2004, where he was also honoured with a Teaching Fellowship from 2004 to 2005. He has widely published in the field of Shakespearean Drama, Renaissance Literatures, Literary Theory, Postcolonial studies, and Film studies. He is also deeply interested in the aspect of performance studies: he has taught courses on performing Shakespeare, and conducted workshops on Shakespearean acting and cinema. Recently he was one of the invited speakers for the Shakespeare Association of India’s annual conference at St. Bede’s college in September, 2011, where he presented a paper on the influence of Hollywood cinema on Indian film adaptations of Shakespearean Drama. He has also worked as a freelance journalist/writer contributing to The Statesman and Encyclopedia Britannica. His recent book, The Limits of Orientalism: Seventeenth-Century Representations of India (Delaware Press, Co-Publisher Rowman and Littlefield Publishing Group, 2011), which deals with the narratives of the East India Company, was praised by the eminent scholar Francis Robinson in The Times Literary Supplement. Dr. Sapra is also on the Editorial Board of the Film Section of Routledge’s digital Encyclopedia on Modernism (Forthcoming).

GAURAV SEHGAL

Gaurav is one of the founding members of Atelier.

He takes care of management of production besides acting and directing. In the theatre festivals, Gaurav plays a very significant role of raising funds.
